Mollie '12 Disentangles Guernica
Mollie is working on her independent senior tutorial on Politics and Art. Her first focus is Picasso's Guernica. She is intrigued by a passage in which image after image are superimposed. In Putney fashion, she has developed her own technique involving tracing each image on a separate sheet of acetate, each in a different color. She hopes to discern what iconography, if any, is at work, and thus understand more about how Picasso was thinking. Says art history teacher Gordon Jones, "With some students, and Mollie is definitely one such, the best thing a teacher can do is get out the way."
