Devouring Culture at the International Café

Every year The Harvest Festival features an event called the International Cafe. Putney students from around the world make food from their home countries to share with the school and bigger community. This year’s cafe had a particularly large variety of cultures represented, with fourteen different dishes from Europe, North America, South America, and Asia. The International Cafe is the main event of the festival every year. The moment it opens a line gathers that goes half way through campus. People excitedly get their plates and choose from the number of elaborate dishes that are being sold. The food ranges from breads and dumplings, to soups, to meats and vegetarian options, to rice, and of course, desserts. The cafe is a fantastic experience to have great food, and support the school’s international program, but most of all is a chance to learn about different cultures and allow students to share a bit of their home with the Putney community. The International Program here at Putney works hard to bring all parts of the world together to celebrate international relationships. The International Cafe is their prize event that reaches out not only to Putney students and alum, but also to the surrounding Putney area.
Here are a few pics from this year's preparations.
