Orientation Bonfire!

Each year during orientation, the student leaders host a bonfire for the new students. There's something about a cozy, crackling fire that helps mesh the new community with the returning students. This year, we walked down to the Amphitheatre together where we were greeted by our head of school, Jawan, who was filled with a firey energy (pun intended). We started off by showcasing some of our talents; people sing, play the guitar, perform a monologue, tell some jokes, and do anything that can be considered entertainment. Every year, these performances lead to a large amount of new students who ask to perform too! I'm always impressed by the new talent that there is, and how comfortable the new arrivals are with performing in front of their peers. This year, the talent we had was overwhelming! We had someone do stomp dancing, a group of freshman day students perform a song with their band, a poetry recitation, and there was even a student who played his accordian for us!

There couldn't have been a better way to top off a fantastic orientation.

Here is a video of Elena Clancy '13 fire dancing for the bonfire. Enjoy!
