Putney in Black and White

For many of the students and faculty alike, progressive education is one of the reasons that we are here at Putney. With progressive education everything is an experiment in many shades of gray. After many a long intellectual discussion I enjoy getting away from all the could, would, and should be's, from the controvercy, and from the infinite possibilities to a place where everything is clear. For me that place is the dark room and photo lab. Photos are so simple while conveying so much. I get to work on making the photos that I've taken come to life. It's hard work, but there are no words to describe the satisfaction that comes from knowing I made the photo I'm looking at. I did not just take it, I made it. Each photo is a one-of-a-kind expression of myself. It's just one of the many ways that Putney teaches us to communicate and express ourselves in this vast ever-changing world. No one ever said that communicating was easy but it's something you work at. Putney helps me do that everyday.
