The name says it all. Thank you, Michael. Thank you Michael's family.
That's it for the contruction story. The Michael S. Currier Center is now part of the campus fabric and the news is all about the ways we're using it. Check into the What's New page for updates on dance concerts, music performances special guests and whatever else the creative art department students and faculty can cook up from now on. The building may be done, but the capital campaign marches on. Here's the latest update: THE PUTNEY SCHOOL MEETS $1 MILLION CHALLENGE The Putney School has successfully completed a fund drive to meet a $1 million matching gift challenge. The news was announced during ceremonies marking the formal opening of the Michael S. Currier Center, the school's new arts facility. Addressing those joining in the celebration, Putney School Director Brian Morgan said, "I am delighted to tell you that The Putney School has successfully now met its $1 million capital campaign challenge. I sincerely want to thank everyone who contributed, especially our most generous anonymous donor. The challenge provided a huge impetus to our fund raising efforts for this wonderful new facility, and made it possible for us to be here today." A generous Putney School alumni family made the challenge to broaden the base of alumni support for the capital campaign. Under terms of the challenge, the donor family agreed to match, dollar for dollar, gifts of up to $25,000 by alumni in classes from 1936-1980, and their families. The challenge was completed two and a half months ahead of deadline. With the successful completion of the challenge, the school's BUILDING THE FUTURE capital campaign has raised more than $6.6 million toward its $10 million goal. The school is using the proceeds to build an indoor recreation center in addition to the newly-opened Michael S. Currier Center. The Center is named to honor the memory of a trustee who led the effort to stabilize the school's financial well being and build its endowment fund. The Putney School is a boarding and day college preparatory school for grades 9-12 on a 500-acre working dairy farm in Putney, Vermont.
