Sheep to Shawl to Test Patterns!

WeavingLarge.jpgFor instance, this nifty pattern on a scarf hanging on the gallery wall. Yes, it's pretty. But did you know the student, Henny Bennett, who wove the pattern, discovered a glitch in the pattern book? According to the photo in the book, it wasn't supposed to have the square element in the center of the photo you see here. Did you also know that weaving students use computers to plot what threads go where? Now that's appropriate technology! So, yes. Becca '05 Tanner's quilt is beautiful (see it and some other neat stuff here). But there's a lot going on with current students as well. The first photo in the gallery shows a shawl made entirely on campus. The wool grew here, was dyed here and woven here. See the strap on Henny's nifty purse? Not only did she make the bag; she formed the strap using her jewelry-making skills as well. So many amazing things go on here in any given week, sometimes it's hard to show you even a fraction of it. Enjoy this little slice.
