Work Day happens twice a year: fall and spring. The fall Work Day has been named in honor of Jean Hinton Rosner, sister of Carmelita Hinton, because of her lifelong dedication to the school and to the concept of including work in the curriculum. Although she never graduated from Putney herself, her children and grandchildren have.
There were many, many projects going on, so all but a few are represented in these galleries: Gallery One, Gallery Two, Gallery Three.
The big news of the day, for this reporter at least, was the turkey dinner (with all the fixin's) the KDU crew prepared for lunch. As Work Program Director Lies Pasterkamp said, "I've been doing Work Days for 19 years and we've never had anything other than pizza for lunch. I like this!" The downside was a lot of tryptophan-induced sluggishness for the second half of the day. But it was worth it!
