Thanks to math teacher, Abijah Reed, the doors of the dining room were transformed into swinging saloon gates last Saturday night for Snow Ball, just past the Georgia O'Keefe inspired mural we used as a backdrop for our sepia-tinted portraits.

Those who felt inspired wore cowboy- or native-inspired costumes. The faculty wait staff reported in white linen shirts which were then adorned with ribbons to make them look like sleeve-gartered saloon keeps. Western music twanged in the background as students dug into bison ribs and steaks with all the fixin's, including that cowpoke staple, baked beans. Here are some candid shots from dinner: Gallery 1, Gallery 2.
The band was delayed by a trip to the ditch on their way up West Hill in what turned out to be a foot-deep snowstorm that fell throughout the afternoon and evening. Our farm staff rescued the band and their gear with tractors and hauled them up to Calder Hall of the Michael S. Currier Center for some decidedly un-Western live music. Thanks to J.D. Mellowship, our bean-slinging mountain biker Jack Black look-alike, for booking such a great band!
