Theater Intensive is Intense

Advanced theater students at The Putney School may, with the drama director's permission, take a class called Theater Intensive in which they can write, direct and/or act in a play. The outcome can be, well, intense.

Claire and Katie have chose Jane Shepard's play Nine for their acting and directing Theater Intensive last semester. The performance was put off til January when Claire had to step into the lead of one of our fall plays at the last minute, but the wait was worth it.

Two women chained to two black walls, each in pool of light, is the set. And the dialog is as stark, disturbing, frightening, touching, appalling and whatever else your own anxiety closet can bring to the action.

The play will run this Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. in Barnes Assembly Hall. Come prepared to sit on floor cushions and be moved by these two fine performers. And leave the middle-schoolers home. This is not kid stuff.
