Kimberly Shaw

Job: Associate Dean of Students, Health Educator, Old Boys Dorm Head
Education: B.S. Shaw University, M.A. The University of Scranton

In my journey to becoming a leader in education administration, I was drawn to dialogue, where I was able to acquire skills that afforded spaces where students could show up as themselves.

John Dewey said, “The self is not something ready-made, but something in continuous formation through choice of action.” My choice to be a part of the Putney community led me to leave all I’ve known for the past twenty years. My choice to take a “leap of faith” to come to a place unseen felt like releasing a dandelion on a windy day.

As a new community member, I am here to add to the experience of all students and to promote a continued sense of belonging. My life’s commitment has been to nurture and promote the well-being of students. In my journey to becoming a leader in education administration, I was drawn to dialogue, where I was able to acquire skills that afforded spaces where students could show up as themselves. I believe having these skills will serve me well in this position and be the gateway to forming relationships. I am excited about my roles and will continue making choices that will lead me to actions toward making an inclusive, respectful, and fun place for students to thrive.
