Both my siblings went here, and I was really young when my sister started at Putney. It’s been part of my life since I was in kindergarten.
My siblings really flourished here. Especially my brother, who is very introverted. The public middle school we were all at was very large.
Why should someone come to Putney? Oh my goodness; there’s a lot of things. All the teachers are really great. I love the evening arts classes. They’re really fun. At other high schools, I know I would’ve gotten to take probably one art class a trimester that met once a week. You don’t get a lot of art classes in at other schools, but here it’s like two to four times a week. I’m in a drawing class right now that meets four times a week, and it’s really fun.
The work program has been wonderful. I got breakfast crew first term and it was really good for me. It was really fun. You work alongside your friends, and you get to interact with new people that you might not otherwise have met.
I made a robotic angler fish for a class. I made a circuit for the little light they have that they hang in front of their mouths to catch prey. I made that, and I made a circuit for it. The idea was to build something around a circuit. But I learned so much more in the process. That’s the beauty of Putney— every project leads to so much learning.
