Campus Beauty

Nested in the eastern foothills of Vermont’s Green Mountains, our 600-acre campus is surrounded by pastures, wooded trails and a pond. We weave our beautiful natural setting into our curriculum, from teaching classes outside, to supporting students in real-world field research such as working with the American Chestnut Foundation to help bring the endangered trees back to our forests, and measuring the goldfish population in our pond. Hiking, climbing, rowing, mountain biking, pond hockey, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and wilderness skills become more than just an activity as students cross paths with wildlife in the forest, decipher tracks in the snow, or learn how to fry an egg on a rock around a campfire. We hope all students leave Putney with a deeper connection to nature.
