Since our founding in 1935, The Putney School has been committed to socioeconomic diversity. The Putney School follows the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) guiding principle that the responsibility of financing a private education rests primarily with a student’s family.

We work to remain accessible to everyone through our need-based financial aid program, and closely consider each family’s unique financial situation throughout the financial aid process.
We invest more than 20 percent of tuition revenues into need-based awards, along with endowed funds which support all Putney students.
First time and returning families and students should apply for financial aid through School & Student Services (SSS). We use this data as a starting point to help determine the reasonable contribution each family can make toward their child’s education.
