Housing

Surrounded by nature, our dorms host anywhere from 10 to 30 students. Each facility contains at least two dorm parents who work with the student dorm heads to balance the many things Putney demands and offers — jobs, schedules and choices. We also have five solar-powered cabins, where seniors have an opportunity to live on their own as responsible, self-sufficient members of our community.

Your home away from home.

I love when our dorm does something all together that is simple and spontaneous, like having a water fight. We’ve had midnight pancakes in my apartment.

Putney Dorms

Each of our nine dorms offer a unique space for students on campus. More than just a place to live, we create a family atmosphere where students feel welcome and supported. We also recently built two new dorms to replace two of our older facilities, adding larger and more sustainable spaces to our community.

Cabin Program

We have five cabins — two of which were designed and built entirely by students — that provide an opportunity for Putney seniors to experience what it means to truly live sustainability. Each cabin is solar powered, highly-insulated, and heated with a wood burning stove. Selected students develop a hands-on understanding of their energy consumption, and learn to thrive in a rustic environment that illuminates the charm of a simple lifestyle.
