The International Student Program at Putney (ISP) is designed to provide support for students as they transition into both the academic and social life of our school community. We focus on helping students thrive in the classroom through language and academic guidance, while also encouraging cultural integration and personal growth. From orientation programs and ongoing advising to ESL support, to student-led cultural events and leadership opportunities, we help students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Students, faculty and staff from more than 30 nations around the world are represented at The Putney School. Most years, about 20 percent of students come from outside the U.S., contributing to a diverse international community bound by understanding and respect.
Explore Our Program
ESOL Program
Our English for Speakers of Other Languages program helps students to develop a high level of English for academic work in the United States. It prepares students broadly, including language training, content education, study skills, and cross-cultural orientation.
International Admission
Applicants who live outside the United States follow the same process as U.S. residents, with only a few differences. We’ll also walk you through how to arrange an interview and obtain your student Visa.

Rooted in the values of intellectual curiosity, global citizenship, and experiential learning, Putney provides international students with a warm, inclusive environment where they are supported academically, socially, and emotionally.
