Nimbus Dance Returns for 2020 Performance

Nimbus Dance, New Jersey’s premier contemporary dance company, returns to The Putney School campus Feb. 24 to Feb. 29 for their annual residency. The company’s ninth consecutive year working with the Putney Dance Program, Nimbus will present an evening of dance on Friday, February 28th, 7:30pm, previewing new works by Italian choreographer Sofia Nappi and by New York-based Kristen Klein prior to their premieres at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in March. Additionally, the company presents Samuel Pott’s two-part cycle which addresses human relationship to diminishing natural environments and to climate change: Patch of Turf  and Falling Sky – both original music by noted composer Qasim Naqvi. Falling Sky, which premiered at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Fall 2019, features video design by Laia Cabrera and Isabelle Duverger. 

In addition to the Friday evening performance, professional company dancers will teach master classes and collaborate with Putney’s Director of Dance, Jessica Batten and the Putney dancers, on a new performance piece. Students and members of the greater Putney community will have the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with Nimbus dancers, gaining insight into the inner workings of a professional dance company, including the disciplines and daily work habits required to become a professional dancer.
