Charitable Work Day at The Putney School is our way of contributing to the greater community by donating our labor towards a good cause.
One day each spring, Putney students head off campus to work in the surrounding community for eight dollars an hour. Jobs may include gardening, dusting, moving furniture, cleaning out garages, or any other thing that needs doing. All of the money collected during the day goes to an organization or charity chosen by the school.
The 2018 Charitable Work Day was held on Saturday, April 14th and supported The Putney Foodshelf, which was created with the mission “to provide supplemental healthy food for area people in need.” The Putney Foodshelf provides this support to anyone in need, regardless of income or status. Last year, they hauled a record 82,797 pounds of food into the Foodshelf, serving more than 6,300 people.
