Please join us this year for a virtual reunion*. Alumni from all classes are invited to come together for an online celebration of our time at Putney. This day-long event will feature class sessions, as well as smaller sessions devoted to fiber artists, poets, and much more. We look forward to seeing you — from wherever you happen to be — in June!
Pre-registration for virtual events is required. Register by June 5.
Zoom link will be mailed to all registrants on June 4.
*We also encourage alumni to connect safely in person with other alumni in your area sometime before the virtual reunion date. Please send us a photo if you do meet up with a Putney friend.

Two pieces of bread, toasted
Stewed tomatoes, heated
While heating the tomatoes, spread peanut butter on bread
Once tomatoes are warm, spread on top of peanut butter
Adjust recipe as desired by changing the quality of the ingredients. Also works well served on a cracker.
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
8 oz unsalted butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tsp vanilla
2 large eggs
2 cups chocolate chips
Preheat oven 350 degrees
Whisk flour, baking soda, salt
Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix until barely combined.
Add flour mixture, mix until barely combined
Drop teaspoon fulls onto parchment-lined trays. Bake 8-10 minutes.
Makes three loaves
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 cups sugar
4 large eggs
2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp ground allspice
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
15 oz pumpkin puree
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2/3 cup water
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl
- Whisk eggs, oil, water, and pumpkin in a separate bowl. Stir into dry ingredients until just moistened
- Pour into three 8"x4" greased loaf pans
- Bake for 50-55 minutes. Do not overbake
- Let cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
2 cups flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
1 stick cold unsalted butter
3/4 cup buttermilk
Maple syrup to taste
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Combine dry ingredients. Cut in butter.
Mix in buttermilk until moistened.
Turn dough onto lightly floured surface and knead briefly.
Roll dough into 1/2-inch thick round.
Cut dough into 8 wedges and place on parchment-lined baking sheet
Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Brush liberally with syrup. Wait 5 minutes before eating.
1 tsp. fennel seeds
8 pods green cardamom
6 whole cloves
1 stick cinnamon, halved
4 cups boiling water
6 black tea bags
1 one-inch piece of ginger, peeled and crushed
2 cups of milk or milk alternative
1/2 - 3/4 cups of brown sugar
Lightly toast spices in dry saute pan
Combine with boiling water and tea bags
Steep 6-8 minutes, to taste
Add remaining ingredients and heat to a simmer. Turn off the heat and steep until flavor is fully developed.
Strain spices and re-heat to serving temperature
Add cream or half and half to taste

*50th reunion for classes of 1970, 71, and 72 will begin the evening of June 9
** Alumni from classes 1950 and earlier are welcome to join in 2022 as well.
The reunion class groups and schedule are being re-configured as we plan for life after Covid. Stay tuned for an updated schedule of reunion groupings for 2023 and beyond.
