Horseback riding at Putney is a memorable experience, and our program can be custom fit to your individual needs. It is open to riders of all levels from beginner through advanced.
Riding Skills
Our riding program focuses on the basics of dressage, stadium jumping and cross country jumping. We have a large riding ring, along with miles of wooded trails to explore. Our stable is filled with wonderful school horses of various breeds and levels of training. From riding a school master to working with a green horse, students have many opportunities for development.
Horsemanship Skills
Our Horse Program also teaches horsemanship and animal husbandry. Students learn to care for, tack up and evaluate their horses for confirmation, soundness and general behavior, and get to see the veterinarians and farriers care for the horses.
Leasing and Boarding
There is the opportunity for leasing if a student develops a special relationship with a school horse. Students may also choose to bring their own horse as room in the stable allows. There is an extra riding fee for this program and need-based scholarship money is available.
