Ten to eleven students live in five cabins on The Putney School campus every year. The cabins are wood heated and, where possible, actively and passively solar powered. Yes, it’s a big responsibility to live this way, so the selection process is rigorous. Here is a glimpse of the experience.

The 446 kW solar array at The Putney School provides enough energy to offset 65% of the school’s electrical needs. It is a cornerstone in The Putney School’s master plan, leading towards a net-zero campus.
Verdi Requiem 2018
On May 20 The Putney School Madrigals and an expanded Putney Community Orchestra joined the Germantown Concert Chorus (from Philadelphia, PA), the Bennington County Choral Society (VT), and the Keene Chorale (NH) in a special concert project to mark the 15th anniversary of Putney’s Director of Music, Cailin Marcel Manson, as a professional choral-orchestral conductor.
The Putney School Graduation 2018
The graduation of The Putney School’s class of 2018 was held on June 3 and featured speeches by Mica Lin-Alves ’18, Acadia Barrengos ’18 and Jared Blumenfeld ’87. Chairman of the Board Joshua Laughlin ’82 and Head of School Emily Jones presented the 64 graduates with unique diplomas hand-crafted by their classmates.
