Video: Watch the Dorm Construction Coming Along

The construction of two new dormitories at Putney is moving steadily along, with the foundation and framing underway at both the Greenhouse and Houghton Brook sites. Throughout the winter, the buildings will continue to take shape with the installation of the windows, exterior siding, roof and solar panels. Work will finish up in the summer with painting, tiling, flooring, plumbing and finishing touches before opening in late 2023.

The new dorms are part of the school’s campaign Sing it Forward: A Campaign for Putney’s Future. They will replace the Old Boys and Old Girls dorms, and will provide housing for 44 students, along with four spacious three-bedroom family-sized faculty apartments. With a commitment to sustainability, they will also provide an additional 50 kilowatts of solar energy across both dorms, and offset Putney’s current electrical usage by 65 percent.
