Virtual Community During COVID-19

March 18, 2020

Dear Putney,

Lisa and Leigh here, writing to you from separate spots on campus, where birds are chirping this morning, calves are still being born, and spinach is being harvested.

While much is unknown about what our classes and daily lives might look like for the foreseeable future, we are certain of this: we are so deeply lucky to have the Putney community. Our physical distancing is a deep act of care for one another. So, let us continue the care and co-create our Putney community in a new way.

Please consider us – Lisa Muñoz and Leigh Witzling – your Virtual Community Leaders during this time. We will be your go-to people for hosting online community events, sharing ideas for fun and connection, and helping you stay emotionally well. And, we’re so excited to hear your ideas! We’ll be reaching out soon to ask for your suggestions.

For questions about academics, credits, jobs, and “official” business, please consult your advisor to connect you to the right adult. But for fun, friendship, and wellbeing, write to us.  🙂

Connect on Instagram:
Follow us on Instagram @PutneyGoesVirtual — DM us your name and grad year to follow us.
For folks without access to Instagram or who choose not to use it: We will not share crucial information here without cross-posting to email. Please let us know if there are other/better ways to connect, or different online platforms you want us to know about.

Daily Community Check-Ins:
Leigh will be hosting a Community Check-In every day. This week the check-ins will be at 5:00-5:45pm. This is a time to wave to your classmates, share some things we’re excited about, and find ways to support one another. Anyone can attend – come late, leave early. Whether it’s just me and you, or 200 of us, I’ll be there.

Today’s Community Check-In @ 5pm: meet.google.com/fyb-vzbq-jpk

With Great Care,
Lisa & Leigh
