The construction of Putney’s two new dormitories is well underway, with crews on track to complete the work this summer, and a slated move-in date of late 2023.
The two nearly identical dorms will include 11 double occupancy rooms for students, as well as two spacious three-bedroom apartments for faculty families. Together, they will provide 44 beds for the Putney student community and 4 apartment homes for faculty families.
The design uses net-zero energy, a carbon reduction in materials, connects to the environment, and will be culturally sustainable. The installation of solar panels on both buildings will provide an additional 50 kilowatts of energy, offsetting Putney’s current electrical usage by 65%.
